Join the Bob Graham Center for Public Service and UF’s Office of Government & Community Relations to hear from legislative leaders and government affairs professionals about the statewide priorities ahead of the 2022 Florida Legislative Session.
Panelists will speak to:
- The specific issues and policies Floridians should keep an eye on in 2022;
- Potential legislative solutions to Florida’s most pressing challenges; and
- Opportunities for public engagement
Speakers will include:
Florida State Senator Keith Perry , 8th district. Senator Keith Perry served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2016, and since 2016 has represented District 8 (Alachua, Putnam, and Marion Counties) in the Florida Senate. His company, Perry Roofing, was awarded the 2009 Business of the Year Award for Commitment to the Environment by the Alachua County Chamber of Commerce. Perry is an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity, the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, the Dignity Project, the Reichert House, the Salvation Army, the Women’s Center, and is the founding president of House of Hope. His legislative priorities include land conservation, job creation, infrastructure, education, and agriculture.
Yolanda Cash Jackson, attorney, Becker Lawyers. Yolanda Cash Jackson is an experienced Government Law attorney who has established a strong reputation in the community for her leadership and commitment to civic, charitable and professional organizations. She concentrates her practice in the area of Governmental Relations and has developed a proficiency in state government funding and appropriations. Ms. Jackson has excellent working relationships with several of the state’s leading elected officials and policymakers.
Eric Godet, President & CEO, Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce. Eric Godet was named President/CEO of the Greater Gainesville Chamber in December 2018. Eric has served the Gainesville community for many years, working as Vice President of Organizational Advancement for Haven Hospice and as a founding member of RTI Biologics. His previous experience includes work for Johnson & Johnson and IBM. Godet’s work supports developing family-supporting jobs, improving local infrastructure, and revitalizing both the city’s urban core and the surrounding rural communities.
Florida Representative Nicholas Duran, 112th District. Nicholas Duran was elected in 2016 to the Florida House of Representatives for District 112. In the Legislature, Representative Duran serves on several health care committees. He is the ranking Democratic Member of the Health and Human Services Committee, and is on the Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee. As well as being appointed to the Appropriations Committee, Finance and Facilities Subcommittee, and the Joint Legislative Budget Committee. Over the years he has served in a variety of leadership roles for health care policy and community engagement.
This program will be moderated by Mark Kaplan, Vice President of Government and Community Relations for the University of Florida.
